July is shaping up to be a pretty good month for me. I’ve had three pieces juried into exhibitions–two of them being international. Archway Gallery is hosting the local exhibition and the juror is Rosa Ana Orlando.
Although I don’t expect many of my friends to make the trip to PhotoPlace Gallery in Vermont or the SE Center for Photography gallery in South Carolina to see the international exhibitions, I hope that you can visit Archway Gallery at 2305 Dunlavy sometime between July 9 and August 4. The opening reception is July 9 from noon to 8:00 pm (I’ll be there around 6 pm). The closing reception is July 30 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, with performances by Heights Fools on Stools. Fifty percent of sales from this exhibition will benefit Archway Gallery’s charity partner, Scenic Galveston, Inc.
Arrival, the current exhibition by the artists at Silver Street Studios, opened on July 2 and will be open to the public through August 20. Alton Dulaney curated this exhibition, and he did a wonderful job. I hope that you have an opportunity to see this show.
Every year we celebrate the day in 1776 that we proclaimed our independence from England, although it took a few more years before we actually won our independence. Be careful and safe during the holiday, and remember just how hard-fought our independence was, and how precious it is.
